At work, I write constantly. Emails to clients, social media posts and responses to bloggers and journalists. I even write the occasional blog post on behalf of a
At home I do not write, tho I am working to change that.
I have attempted to keep a journal on multiple occasions. But I fail every time.
I have even purchased books on Amazon that are filled with writing prompts.
Recently I have been doing an excellent job of the daily Haiku’s. Not all of them are great Haiku’s, but it is enjoyable to fit the day nicely into a short little poem, and I do feel like I am getting better about it.
I may be talking about the daily Haiku’s a bit too much, but since they are only posted monthly.
Recently I had to write an entire essay about my life and some choices I wanted to make for a grant. It was a struggle to focus on writing it and made me realize that I need more practice at writing.
That is why I started up the blog again, so I could work on prompts and work on writing and meditate on what I want.
I have always wanted to:
- Write Short stories
- write a novel
- make a movie
- write a comic book
This may sound in direct opposition of what I wrote a month ago.
I am going to focus on short stories. I have been following some flash fiction blogs, and I think I might try at that. While also writing some stuff from the books on prompts.
While also keeping part of this blog to be personal, and part of this blog being photography.
My current writing habit is to procrastinate on a topic until I can finally figure out what I want to write and then just posting it with complete and total dissatisfaction.
Heck, this post is written close to midnight, as I have been watching Castlevania on Netflix instead of writing it.
I think I can easily improve that by doing some free writing exercises and by taking the pressure off by writing things in advance instead of the day of.
That should give me time to write in advance and make it better.
What would you like me to write about? Let me know in the comments.
