Last weekend, I was handed the Baton for the iloveTexasPhoto Instagram account. I have to be honest and say that I was a bit nervous about taking over this account. I do not photograph as much as I used to, and I have never treated my mobile photography seriously, electing for snapshots instead of actual photographs. Fortunately, the weekend was full of adventures and I was able to share a part of San Antonio that most do not know about. I actually found it to be really invigorating, it feels like it has been months since I have been out shooting. And I found it to be a great deal of fun taking the photographs that I took.
For this project, I decided that I would force myself to thing differently about the iPhone and mobile photography in general. I downloaded an app called 1 hour photo. This neat little app lets you take a photo, in black and white and then forces you to wait an hour before you can see it. More in line with my film photography roots. Additionally, I decided anywhere I went I would take several photos over the course of the hour, pick my favorite one, and upload that one. On day one this was a bit of a struggle. But by the second and final day I had this down, with well researched information to give the viewer insight into the place I had visited. I really recommend you check out the Instagram account for iloveTexasPhoto. There really is some great work on there, and it really does make me want to explore more of Texas. If you live in Texas and are interested in taking up the baton, you can sign up here.
