One of my friends organized a friendly 5k for this weekend and charity drive. It sounded like fun so I brought some pet food donations and headed to the bar that was the meet-up point. I also wanted to see how far I could run after doing two weeks of the couch to 5k program.
I am happy to say I ran farther than I thought I could. I think I looked down and saw I was at close to half a mile when my lungs were like – you are done…walk for a bit.
I am really happy to see my pace for this. It is constantly improving and I think I will be ready for the Sauerkraut Bend 5k. My legs were a little sore midway, I did not do a good enough job stretching before I headed out.
My legs and my lungs. These are the things I need to work on. I do not think I will have a sub 10 min mile any time soon, but I am ok with that.
Honestly, I don’t think I ever have been a runner. I did track in middle school, but I mostly walked on our long training runs. The coach had me do hurdles which I enjoyed.
I did not do anything athletic in high school. I am a nerd, and truly embraced it then.
I am happy to get into running, and am excited to see where my legs will take me in 2019.
This fun run was a good start to it. Look at how happy we all look:
