I really like Pokemon Go for its fitness aspect. It really has motivated me to work out more and more. For instance this week I walked 60km+ (close to 40 miles.) All because I wanted to hit the 50km goal and hatch a few eggs.
I have a handful of fitness goals that I have been working on, and I have been following a few different blogs on here, that have little check-ins so I think I will start having some check-ins also. My Goals are the following:
- Lose 15 pounds
- Be able to run a 5k straight
- Develop some core strength
To break this down, I have been working at losing weight. I was actually pretty successful at losing some weight, and then my birthday and the state fair happened and it all popped right back on, I also have been training with a URBNFit Exercise Ball to train at home. It seems a bit silly to start this up again right has some food heavy holidays are hitting, but I think it can be done. Honestly I just need to cut out the cokes.
I love walking. I can walk for ever. In fact thats what makes playing Pokemon Go and going hiking enjoyable activities. I can run maybe 50 feet (exaggerating) before I get winded and just sort of give up. I have walked two half marathons. I would like to run a half marathon, but I am going to start with just getting to a 5k. I want to run a 5k. Then Ill jump up to the 10k and then the half. But let’s get to the 5k first.
Core strength. I have none. Walking has given my some well-toned calves, thighs and gluteus. I have no other muscle to speak of. I really have no strength above the waist. I can’t really do a sit-up, a pull-up or a push-up. I would really like to work on this, because having some tone to my upper body would really help with the whole lose weight thing.
I have two apps that are going to help me with this. C25k and
Let’s see how this goes. Also, my current weight is 197.4.
