My favorite photos of 2017 are a bit of a small selection. I haven’t even done one of these posts since 2012 for whatever reason. This year, the selection to choose from was pretty slim. 2017 was a strange year for me, I was not as active with photography as I have been in years past. I decided to take 2017 off and focus on other projects.
Most of my photos from 2017 were shot with Wolf Studios at different events. Nothing special and noteworthy. It was just photos of celebs with attendees at the cons. This did afford me to travel to new places and eat some amazing food. The trade-off of shooting more professionally, I guess.
I did, however, have two major photography outings. Both of them involving my friend Amanda and packs of Instant Film. The first trip was a trip down to the coast to go explore. I actually shot my favorite photo of 2017 on this trip. I walked out into the water with my SX-70 and grabbed this photo of some pelicans on a dead tree. I really love how this turned out.
The other photo outing was at Polacon, but somehow I have misplaced every pack of film that was shot during this amazing week.
The next photo comes from Philadelphia while traveling for Wolf Studios. This is the City Hall building for Philadelphia, and it is absolutely amazing. Every angle of this building had something worth looking at. It also had a massive presence. I felt small next to this building.
The final photo of 2017 was a tranquil spot I found to sit and meditate in Orlando. I did not want to visit Universal Studios after WrestleCon, but instead wanted to find a relaxing spot to sit and think. Somewhere closer to nature. Following the trail from Universal Studios up a short river I found this spot. Behind me was some small river and in around me was this wonderful bamboo. I spent 4 hours here with my eyes closed listening to the sound of the wind through the bamboo. It was the perfect exclamation point on the weekend.
I have thrown an old Holga into my travel bag and another Holga into my Everyday Carry bag. I am going to reignite one of my biggest passions in 2017 in a big way.
